Yoga meditation is known to improve your concentration and can make you stronger physically and emotionally. Widely recognized as an excellent stress management tool it helps you relax, get more restful sleep and can foster spiritual peace and contentment.

There are many techniques and types of yoga meditation, and the most widely recognized is hatha yoga. Hatha has its roots in Raja Yoga, which was developed 5,000 years ago. Hatha uses some of Raja’s asanas, or poses, with breathwork, or pranayama, that were used by sages to build the body to prepare it for extended meditation.

Since hatha contains elements of Raja Yoga and is so well known it has so many definitions. Look soon for an article to read more extensively on the origins and facets of yoga. For a short recent article on yoga, see the one posted by American Chronicle.
