Every Near Year environmental artist Kirk Van Allyn, also known in art circles as Kirkos, builds an elaborate meditation labyrinth on the beach at Encinitas. He creates elaborate designs with tools like a hockey stick, a casting pole and others he makes himself.

Annual Meditation Labyrinth
According to the North County Times, the exact location at Moonlight Beach is not being announced this year, “to prevent crowding and parking problems”. But the date and time are set: New Year’s Day 2010, beginning at 10 a.m.
If you plan to go, you’ll be asked to park in the Moonlight Beach parking lot and then walk north about a mile and a half to the labyrinth. (So much for the secrecy about the location…)

Kirkos is dedicating this year’s meditation labyrinth to the San Dieguito Art Guild and Off Track Gallery, of which he is a member, and in appreciation for their support of his work.
