Life-transforming love offering of devotion
I’m going to the Bhakti Fest with a friend next month and it seems everything I turn to lately brings me back to my love of all things devotional. Not taking a computer or other internet with us to the festival…(-: But I will take pictures and share some experiences with you when we return.
I was posting some music on FaceBook when I ran across legendary world musician Jai Uttal’s FaceBook page. He posted a story about a life-transforming gift to the guru. You can read it on Jai Uttal’s blog. He has also shared some other personal, heartwarming stories of his life, devotion, and the pain and bliss of love and living.
Here is some kirtan music from the streaming link I posted on FaceBook to warm your heart. This song was recorded by Jai Uttal in 2008 at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. It’s entitled “Sita Ram” with Manose on Bansuri flute.
If you like the music of Jai Uttal, I recommend this album, Kirtan: The Art and Practice of Ecstatic Chant. It’s a double album, and the link sends you to a page where you can listen to excerpts from the songs to try before you buy. Jai Utal tells about kirtan and the path that lead him to it in the introduction. I feel you’ll like this one.
